Drum Lessons

Private Drum Instruction

Beginning, Intermediate and Advanced Students are welcome. Lessons are held in a contemporary setting with 2 Drumsets; one for the Student to play and the other for the Instructor to demonstrate on. Lessons will include both Snare and Drumset Technique and in most cases, reading will be a very important study component. The Student will be given CDs and they can bring in their CDs, with level appropriate recordings, to be used for study and transcription. The Student will learn to play the Drumparts from these recordings. This is a fun, effective way to study Drumming, Song Form and Arranging and it is a compliment to the other Technical Studies.

Lesson Pricing and Policies:

1 - 1/2 hr. Lesson per Week $85.00/Mo.
1 - 1 hr. Lesson per Week $145.00/Mo.

1. Tuition is for 4 half hour lessons per month and will be payable on the day of, or before, the first Lesson of the month. Tuition must be paid in full every month!! (Please make check payable to: Jim Magnarella)

2. Tuition will reserve the Students time slot and will remain constant month to month. Many months will have 5 Lessons. There will be no extra charge for the 5th Lesson, therefore extra lessons will be accumulated and used for the Instructor’s time off.

3. If payment is not received on or before the third Lesson of the month, the Instructor has the right to refuse the Lesson.

4. To prevent scheduling nightmares, Students and Parents are asked to carefully select a lesson time that will not interfere with other activities such as School Sports.

5. Students or Parents are asked to inform the Instructor with at least a 24 hour notice, if the Student cannot attend the Lesson. Every attempt will be made to schedule a Makeup Lesson if 24 hour notice is given. The student will be charged for the lesson if 24 hour notice is not given.

6. Makeup Lessons or Lesson Credits will be assessed and applied at the discretion of the Instructor.

7. If the Instructor has to miss a Lesson, a 24 hour notice will be given to the Student and/or Parent and a Makeup Lesson or Lesson Credit will be applied.

8. If the Student is Tardy, the Lesson time frequently cannot be made up.

***Students are encouraged to practice their assigned lesson at least 5 times per week. 7 and 8 year olds for at least; 15 to 30 minutes per day, 9 to 12 year olds at least; 30 to 45 minutes per day. Teenagers should practice their lesson a minimum of 1 hour per day with at least another hour of free playing and focus on other Musical pursuits.*** (These are only minimum recommendations)
